The first conscious concept for umbrellas
The background to our concept
Today we would like to give you an insight into the development of our concept and why we are convinced that such a concept was long overdue.
The umbrella is a product that almost everyone in the world has used at some point, and we all have at least one at home. Many people even have significantly more than one.
Somehow, umbrellas don't really get noticed, but everyone needs them. You know how you can quickly pick one up for little money at the local drugstore. Or maybe your employer has given you a wobbly, untrustworthy umbrella with the company logo on it.
Most of the time, you don't have your umbrella with you at the exact moment you need it. It's tempting to quickly buy one for a few euros and use it for the moment. Hardly anyone could answer our questions about what happens to the umbrella afterward, or whether it's ever been used a second time. We conducted spontaneous market research on the streets of Berlin and Munich and simply asked people about umbrellas.
An overlooked problem
Okay, all of this doesn't sound like a real problem at first. They're just umbrellas. So what.
And that's precisely the problem. Every year, in Germany alone, millions(!) of umbrellas end up in the trash. That's enough umbrellas to fill an entire football stadium.
Big problems often exist in places that almost everyone overlooks. But these days, we prefer to talk about the trending topics surrounding sustainability. The point is, a lot of things are overlooked. Problems that have huge impacts but don't get enough attention. Which brings us back to the umbrellas.
A simple solution
As is often the case, the solution to the underlying problem is far more obvious and simpler than one initially assumes.
We have dedicated ourselves to the humble mission of bringing umbrellas back into the spotlight through a thoughtful and dynamic concept, turning them into sustainable everyday objects that people enjoy using.
Our assumption
When a classic everyday object like an umbrella is high-quality, functional, and timelessly beautiful, you can identify with it. You appreciate the product and its function and have it with you or remember it at crucial moments. This turns an umbrella into a long-lasting accessory rather than a boring, run-of-the-mill disposable product.
Our concept is very simple
We develop and manufacture high-quality umbrellas, focusing on the essentials. This allows us to use only select components, balance design and functionality, and ensure that our umbrellas can be repaired in many cases.
Umbrellas that represent a conscious attitude and reach discerning people who value subtle understatement.
Thanks to their timeless design, these umbrellas never go out of style. At the same time, the design is discreet and bears virtually no resemblance to a traditional umbrella.
Our goal is for you to buy an umbrella that will last for years to come. They're carefully designed and built to such high quality that they'll last a lifetime. And if something does break, we'll repair it.
With caution but determination, we want to offer a solution to the many millions of disposable umbrellas. Sustainability starts with the seemingly least important issues.
Together with you, we want to initiate the evolution of the umbrella.
