The number of ribs is only one factor. What matters is the interplay of a strong yet flexible frame, an evenly tensioned canopy, clean stitching, reliable mechanics and a handle that sits comfortably in the hand.

For us, access to spare parts, repair options and a clear warranty are also part of a well-made product.

On Distinct, Classic and Modern, pressing the button opens the canopy. To close it, guide the runner carefully towards the handle by hand until the mechanism locks into place.

On Essential and Iconic, pressing the button opens and closes the canopy.

Once the canopy has closed, push the telescopic shaft towards the handle by hand until it audibly locks into place. Keep sufficient distance from other people while doing so.

A strong gust can turn the canopy of a flexible folding umbrella inside out. This does not necessarily indicate a defect; it allows the frame to release some of the load.

Close the umbrella using the automatic open-and-close button, check the ribs and fabric for visible damage, then open it again. Do not force or bend the ribs back by hand.

Our umbrellas are designed so that the frame and fibreglass ribs can yield in a controlled way in the wind. No umbrella, however, can be wind-resistant without limits.

In strong gusts, keep the outside of the canopy facing into the wind wherever possible. During storms or extreme wind, we recommend keeping the umbrella closed.

No umbrella can remain fully protected under every wind condition.

The tightly woven polyester is highly water-repellent, allowing raindrops to bead and run off the surface. After prolonged use, some moisture may remain around seams, folds and between layers of fabric.

The umbrella should therefore be left fully open to dry at room temperature after every use.

If you are looking for a folding umbrella for a bag or backpack, choose between Essential and Iconic. Essential is our classic folding umbrella for everyday use. Iconic is our flagship folding model, with a particularly stable ten-rib frame and a consistently monochrome design.

Classic and Modern are our largest full-length umbrellas. Their construction is largely identical; the main difference is the handle. Classic has a curved wooden crook handle, while Modern has a straight wooden handle.

Distinct is our most individual line. Its ironwood handle, limited designs and—depending on the variant—double-layer canopy give it a distinctive presence.

Classic and Modern share the same large 121 cm canopy, an eight-rib fibreglass frame, a strong steel shaft and automatic opening.

Classic has a curved crook handle in lacquered wood. Modern has a straight wooden handle, giving it a cleaner, more linear character.

Both are compact folding umbrellas with a 107 cm canopy and a closed length of 32 cm.

Essential weighs 423 g and has an eight-rib frame and a comfortable black handle. Iconic weighs 463 g and has a particularly stable ten-rib frame. Its handle, cotton wrist strap and canopy are all colour-matched.

Essential is the more familiar choice for everyday use. Iconic is our most distinctive folding umbrella in both construction and design.

Distinct combines a curved handle in genuine ironwood with limited colours and designs developed specifically for Sapor. Most variants also feature a double-layer canopy made from two differently designed layers of fabric.

At 113 cm in diameter, it offers generous coverage without reaching the scale of our largest full-length umbrellas.

Blue Abstract, Black Abstract, Black Drop, Green Drop, Blue/Red, Black/Green and Brown/Beige have a double-layer canopy.

Color Mix is deliberately single-layered and, at 509 g, is the lightest Distinct variant. The double-layer variants weigh 585 g.

Ironwood is a natural material. Grain, colour and fine surface details therefore vary slightly from one handle to the next. These variations are not flaws; they make every handle individual.

All current Sapor umbrellas provide generous coverage for one person and can also be used by two.

Essential and Iconic have a diameter of 107 cm, while Distinct measures 113 cm. Classic and Modern offer the greatest coverage at 121 cm and are particularly comfortable when regularly shared by two people.
