Thought from the perspective of use
The span determines how much protection an umbrella offers. Length and weight influence how it can be carried. The handle determines grip and feel. Ribs and shaft support the canopy. Fabric, seams, and tension determine how water repels and how evenly the shape unfolds.
None of these decisions stand alone. Only their interaction determines whether an umbrella feels natural in daily use.
The intended use is therefore the starting point. From it arise the construction, proportions, and design.
Nothing is incidental
Precisely because an umbrella is often treated as an accessory, we are interested in the easily overlooked details.
The lining of a cover. A cotton loop. The sound of automatic opening. An embossed snap button. The tension of the fabric or the precise matching of several materials to the same shade.
None of these details alone makes a good umbrella. Together, however, they determine how harmonious a product appears and how it feels with repeated use.

Longevity comes from construction, material selection, use, and care.
